AEC Magazine published a test this week giving Claude actual write access to a live Revit model: placing ceilings across multiple rooms worked, and faster than doing it manually. Stairs failed because the parameters governing stair geometry interact in ways the AI cannot resolve together. Feeding 2D Farnsworth House drawings into the same setup and requesting a model produced something recognisable but not deliverable-quality. On the same day, Motif released a browser-native BIM platform, backed by $46 million and former Autodesk co-CEO Amar Hanspal, where AI writes to the model directly with no separate seat charge for cloud collaboration. The ceiling task is ready to test on a production project. Stairs, and everything at Revit's more complex end, are still ahead of what either system can reliably deliver.

Motif builds AI into the model at the platform level; its constraint is object coverage, which is currently thinner than Revit's. The ceiling task in Revit is specific enough that a firm could assign it to an AI-assisted workflow on a real project and measure the result today.

The AEC Magazine Revit test arrived at the same point independently, finding that the ceiling task works but still requires someone to decide whether the output is right.
Project reporting got a plain-language layer in ChatGPT Work and Slack this week
OpenAI added a Data agent to ChatGPT Work that connects to Google Drive and SharePoint, answers project questions in plain language, and builds a shareable interactive dashboard from the answer inside a single conversation. Slack released Surfaces to all customers: describe what you need to Slackbot, and it builds a summary or workload chart from connected files. Administrators on both platforms control which data sources connect and which staff can reach them. Sage argued in a separate piece this week that AI applied function by function cannot trace a problem across the project lifecycle without connected data behind it.
Client presentation image generation advanced in two tools this week
ChatGPT Images 2.5, released Monday, takes hand sketches and reference photos and produces more refined images from them, inside the ChatGPT interface firms already use for concept design. Adobe added a Generative Media panel to Premiere that lets editors generate missing video clips, sound effects, or music directly in the editing timeline, pulling from Firefly, Google Veo, and Runway without leaving the project. Anyone cutting a client presentation video in Premiere can highlight an empty gap in the sequence and fill it from the same panel.
