The two most widely used AI drafting tools both got cheaper on the same day. Anthropic released Claude Opus 5.5 on Tuesday; OpenAI followed about an hour later with GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna. GPT-6 Sol is priced at roughly half what its predecessor cost. GPT-6 Luna, the lighter option suited to routine correspondence, came in at $0.10 per million words processed, among the cheapest models OpenAI has released. Claude Opus 5.5 dropped 20% on standard pricing, with the cost of re-reading cached documents falling 60%, which matters for extended review sessions. Anthropic also says the new version communicates more directly, addressing the main complaint about earlier Opus releases.
