Three AI drawing-review platforms updated in the same week, all targeting systematic coverage
01
Story of the week
Three separate AI drawing-review platforms updated this week. Pirros now checks an entire Revit project in a single pass, measuring every element against codes, standards, specifications, and performance targets rather than what a reviewer had time to cover before a submission deadline. Structured AI connects flagged issues on a drawing sheet back to the specific Revit element that caused them, with a Revit add-in surfacing the finding beside the affected component in the same session. Buildcheck raised $12 million in Series A funding this week. Its platform works from 2D PDFs with no BIM model required, catching pipe-through-column conflicts, missing door ratings in fire-rated walls, and discrepancies between drawings and written specifications. Its users are contractors, and the errors it surfaces are the ones that typically reach design teams as RFIs during construction administration. Pirros did not publish pricing or rollout timing, so firms not currently on the platform will need to contact them directly.

Drawing review is shifting from what fits before a deadline to everything in the project
Pirros, Structured AI, and Buildcheck all announced updates this week, and the shared logic across all three is that coverage matters as much as speed. Pirros runs the whole Revit project against codes and specs in one pass. Structured AI links a sheet-level finding to the Revit element that caused it, so the reviewer can act without switching between tools. Buildcheck works from 2D PDFs and targets contractors catching design coordination errors before submitting bids. The errors it flags are the same ones that arrive at design teams as construction-phase RFIs.
The major BIM platforms are signaling AI as a priority without much delivery yet
Graphisoft released Archicad 30 this week with an AI roadmap covering image generation, an AI assistant, and a concept-design platform called Nemetschek Creator. AI Visualizer gets new model options. AI Assistant Spaces, which would let firms build a knowledge base from their own documents, has no announced timeline. Creator is heading toward early access in October with eligibility details still unpublished. Graphisoft's Ignite event on October 13 is due to fill in the gaps. Autodesk is in a similar position: Diana Colella took over the AEC division this week with a stated priority of deepening AI integration into Forma, but without product announcements to accompany it.
Free AI access is contracting at two tools firms use regularly
From October 9, free Gemini users are limited to Flash Lite, Google's least capable model. Accessing standard Flash or Pro requires a $4.99 per month Google AI Plus subscription. Staff who have been using free Gemini to draft specs, summarise meetings, or research materials will hit this within days. Archicad 30 adds a third subscription tier, Max, which is where the deeper AI features will sit. The restructuring follows the same pattern: AI capability is moving out of included tiers and into an upgrade.
Revit received more new AI tools this week than any other platform
BIMlogiq's Argus AI, Pirros, Structured AI, and Kora Studio all specifically target Revit in updates announced this week. Argus AI adds agents that build families, design ADA-compliant bathrooms, and model rebar from a PDF structural specification. Pirros checks the whole project against codes and specs in one pass. Structured AI traces drawing findings back to model elements. Kora Studio generates façade options from a prompt, intended for junior architects to produce choices without senior time. Firms running ArchiCAD, Vectorworks, or Rhino as their primary tool are evaluating a thinner set of comparable additions.

Notable tools
-
ToolingBIMlogiq Argus AI models rebar from a PDF spec and saves workflows as repeatable team commands
Attach a PDF structural spec and the rebar agent generates 3D reinforcement across foundations, columns, and framing, with a verification checklist covering anchorage and bar limits. Completed workflows save as repeatable team commands. BIM managers handling structural coordination are the likely early users. -
ToolingKora Studio generates façade designs inside Revit from a prompt
A Revit plug-in that produces complete façade designs, intended to let junior architects generate options in minutes. Worth evaluating for practices where façade development typically occupies senior time. -
ToolingStructured AI links drawing issues to the Revit element that caused them
When a QA check flags a problem on a sheet, the platform traces it to the specific Revit element, so the reviewer sees both in the same session. Covers more than 900 checks across architectural, structural, MEP, fire-protection, and civil work. Connects to Autodesk Construction Cloud and Bluebeam Studio. -
ToolingvBrief turns emails and uploaded documents into a verified, traceable project record
Connects to Outlook and accepts uploaded PDFs, meeting notes, and schedules. AI surfaces and categorises key information before a user confirms it into the record. Every item links back to its source document and change history. £15 per user per month, 30-day trial available. -
ToolingChatGPT now returns labeled diagrams and interactive charts alongside text
GPT-6 produces labeled diagrams, scrollable charts, and interactive elements in response to complex questions. Available now for Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise accounts. Free-tier access arrived Thursday, October 9. Useful for anyone drafting reports or presentations directly in ChatGPT. -
ToolingMicrosoft Copilot can now read files stored locally on a Windows PC
Copilot is gaining access to locally stored files and the ability to take actions across Windows. Staff using Copilot to draft specifications or correspondence can pull from documents on their machine rather than pasting content in manually.
